September 30 Winning One For ThemselvesI was trying to figure out how I planned on writing about the Detroit Lions finally winning a game during the regular season. Personally, good for them. Especially those players, coaches, staff, and the greater metropolitan area of Detroit.
For one of the hardest hit areas during the recession, it got a boost morally. The only problem:
No one within 90 miles of Detroit saw the victory, unless you were at Ford Field.
It was blacked out, meaning the game against Washington was not aired. Even bars with HDTV package deals can't show games blacked out. Blackouts occur when a team doesn't sell x amount of tickets 72 hours prior to the game.
I myself have cut back on my own bills by forgoing cable. In a way, I'm reading more books again (one of my favorite hobbies), if I want music, I just click on a few rock stations I have bookmarked.
I either go downtown to catch parts of games, or I just sit at home, find the closest radio station online to a game I'm interested in.
In some ways, I find this rather entertaining, because I have to rely on my own mind's eye on what I'm listening to. I also wonder what the people of Greater Michigan saw in their minds' eye when they were listening to their down-trodden team win. Because, I really wish that they could have had a chance to watch the victory, instead of having to listen to it on a radio, or on the internet.
But because of the way ticket sales/blackout rules are written, the NFL views that if even during the recession, if the lift the blackouts for this year, they may not get it back. It's understandabe, considering a salary-capless year is coming up, and that guys like Jerry Jones just built a $2.2 billion dollar stadium. It's called $$ for the league, owners, and players. It truly could get ugly.
If anything, the NFL Network should allow Detroit stations to show this game for free in repeat. It's a done deal. Let the fans have a piece of the pie for free.
Glad you won one, guys. September 26 Dear PrudenceDear Prudence
Dear Prudence,
Won't you come out to play?
Dear Prudence,
Greet the brand new day
The sun is up
The sky is blue
It's beautiful
And so are you
Dear Prudence,
Won't you come out to play?
Dear Prudence,
Open up your eyes
Dear Prudence,
See the sunny sky
The wind is low
The birds will sing
You were born
For Everything
Dear Prudence,
Won't you open up your eyes?
Look around
Around around
Around around
Around around
Around around
Look around
Around around
Around around
Around around
Around around
Look around
Dear Prudence,
Let me see you smile
Dear Prudence,
Like a little child
The clouds will be
A daisy chain
So let me see
You smile again
Dear Prudence,
Won't you let me see you smile?
Dear Prudence,
Won't you come out to play?
Dear Prudence,
It's a brand new day
The sun is up
The sky is blue
It's beautiful
And so are you
Dear Prudence,
Won't you come out to play?
---The Beatles Between The Darkness and The Light(Who are you)
(What do you want)
They're using me!
It's the eternal
Struggle to find
Out the meaning of life
For millenia
Thay have fought
To make us choose
Between them
In the middle
In the middle
In the middle
Kosh: Who are you
Morden: What do you want?
I'm caught in the middle
Of a childish struggle
Like a child I have
To choose
Between two galactic
Bickering parents
I'm now in control
Who are you to
Tell me what I want?
If you don't know the answers
Then why are you guiding me?
I have gone to Zha'dum
To find out who you are
It's not what you wanted
I now know who I am
I now know who I am
I now know what I want
I wonder if you even know
Who you are
Or what you want
Anymore
John Sheridan:
"We don't need you
Anymore!
So get the hell
Out of our galaxy!"
Why are you here?
Where are you going?
Lorien: Beyond the rim
It is their time now September 18 Mobius (The War Without End)It is said that a thousand years ago, Valen appeared to save us from The Shadows
What was known is prophecy
What is past
Is prologue....
I. Interpretation
A thousand years have passed
Since he appeared.
Minbari not born Minbari
If the secret came out
It would destroy us all
Years ago, a war broke out
Unintentioned
Dukhat sought the humans
For reasons of his own
When we encountered them
Open gun ports; our sign of peace
Mis-interpreted as hostile
I cried out "Kill them all!"
Minbari move as one
When we mourn
We mourn as one
When we fight as one
We fight as one
When we die
We die as one
When we kill
We kill as one
II. Revelation
The battle of the line
The truth revealed
We brought a human
To study before us
We would wipe them all out
And realised our mistake
Minbari were diminishing
By no reason why
But now as we kill the humans
We now know why
The truth is you have
A hole in your mind
We took it from you
Because it was not time
For you to reveal yourself
As the darkness comes
For you to face destiny
We set you on the path
Of your future
And the heart of our past
III. The One
The One who was
Is the One is
The One who will be
You must understand
Take it to the past
To create the future
Mobius
To know what is coming
Must know what was past
(Travel through time)
IV. Letters To Dear Friends
I received a hand written letter today
Suprised on who wrote it
My own handwriting
Telling me that my work
Has more important meaning
Those who must play their part I insist
To come along
Those of you I kept home
I know you would resist my wishes
Know that you travel alone
Forever changed
From here on
The cycle
Begins
Again
In Valen's name

I've Had The Time Of My Life
Goodbye
May you rest in peace, Patrick. September 13 And So It BeginsWell, kiddies, it's football time!
Top Ten storylines that interest me this year (subject to change as the season marches on):
1). Will OchoCinco tweet? Personally, I have no idea WHY twitter is so frigging popular. Sooner or later, it's going to come up in a court case somewhere. OchoCinco? Don't tweet.
2). Will Mr. Gisele perform? She's pregnant! Ok..bad joke, but last year's injury to Tom Brady elevated Matt Cassel to a starting job. He's going to start for the Arrowheads in Kansas City. Tom Brady seems to be fine now after taking that awful hit last year.
3). How will Denver fare? So far, Jay Cutler goes to Da Bears, and Brandon Marshall has a tizzy. However, I can understand Marshall's attitude somewhat, after reading this article. If this is true, then I can understand. However, I disagree with his reaction. Lord knows that if I acted like that in my workplace, it wouldn't be tolerated.
4). Two dates that will perhaps define the season: October 5th in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and November 1st in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Let me indulge myself on this one.
I've not commented on this because, well, I wish Brett would just retire. He's one of my heroes. He continues to be, even though he's now wearing purple. If the Vikings somehow win it all with him (and with him on the roster), fine. I'll be happy for him.
But, if last year and this year's campaign is for vain, then Brett, I hope you realize if your body finally breaks down, and if you lose one of those games against the Packers, I hope it was worth it.
Personally, I simply didn't like how the whole thing played out this summer. It's like everyone knew you were going to do this. If this fails, Childress will fall on your sword, just like the GM in the Jets' orginization who hid your tendon injury last year.
I hope it was worth it.
5). I don't understand Oakland. The Cryptkeeper seems to be just out of his mind. I wonder if Darth Vader will finally give Al Davis a Force choke.
6). I wonder if we will get some Manning Mastercard commercials?
7). Win one, Detroit. If not for the Gipper, then one for the United States of America.
8). If Mark Sanchez and Matt Stafford can pull off what Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan did last year, I'll simply say wow.
9). No lockout. Please work it out, guys.
10). If that display gets hit in a game again, Jerry Jones, I know you'll cry about it.
Especially if it happens on Thanksgiving. I also hope no one purposefully does it to prove my point.
Happy Football! In Beatle HeavenI managed to scrounge up a copy of Beatles: RockBand for my Wii, and all is right in the world.
There are several songs missing, such as Let It Be, Yesterday, and Hey Jude, but in many ways I can see why. One of the principle components (an integeral one at that) is the piano is missing. Supposedly, there is a keyboard instrument coming out for Rockband.
Consider the track listing:
As Ringo once said:
"I'VE GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS!"
September 12 Remember September(Dedicated to my mother, and the World.
Never forget.)
Remember, remember
The month of September
Mother was born
Europe I went
Special words I sent
Wake me up
When September ends
Remember, remember
The month of September
Football begins
The season's young
Who will win the championship?
Wake me up
When September ends
Remember, remember
The month of September
They fell down
As the world watched
The skies fell across the stars
Tears hit the ground
Eyes looked to the skies again
Remembering who we are
"Summer has come and passed
The Innocence never lasts
Wake me up
When September ends
Like my father's come to pass
Eight years has gone so fast
Wake me up
When September ends
Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Remembereing who we are
As my memory rests
Never forgets what I've lost
Wake me up
When September ends.
Ring out the bells again
Like we did when spring began
Wake me up
When September ends."
