April 25 The Wrestler Part DuexI finished watching The Wrestler and my God, it's a gorgeous film.
Heath Ledger deserved his posthumous Oscar. But I see why Mickey Rourke was nominated.
This film should have won Best Picture.
Mickey Rourke truly put his heart into this movie, and it's almost like a documentary of what professional wrestlers go through.
What's beautiful is most of the movie really deals with what happens in part of the film, not with the actual wrestling. It deals with retirement, contentment, connecting with family and friends, health issues, and just saying the hell with it, and I do what I want to do.
It also shows what professional wrestlers do to themselves to do their job. It also explains the Chris Benoit suicide murder.
This is not a happy movie by any means. But damn, it's just REAL.
If you do view it, you'll understand the lyrics of The Boss.
April 24 Plug In, Tune OutPlug In, Tune Out
Plug in
To what's going on in your life
Understand what's going on and you can do right
Tune into the positive
Tune out the rest of that shit
Tuning out the things that drive you crazy
Might end up making some sense
Later on
When you're plugged into a situation
Without information
That drives you crazy
When demands are made
And no one listens
To what you say
It's related
Complicated
All I can do is to do what is asked by you
And I might not have the answer
But I have to work it out for you
Pulled apart from both sides
I helped you because you helped me
For five minutes
That was my only break
Then I was told of a solution
Of the problem that they had
I took their proof and applied it to my problem
And it solved it all for you
Plugging in,
You walk yourself through the flame
Let the flame burn you
Plugging out
You find yourself
Changed
April 21 X-Men Origins: Wolverine And Star Trek.Considering that this movie is the first big name summer movie to come out, I'm mixed on going to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Mostly, it's because of Brett Ratner. X3 was horrid, mostly in the fact that it was poorly placed in the series.
I'm probably going to see this one, because it's got Gambit, and actually, the movie looks cool. My issue is, I better not be disappointed.
The other movie I'm actually looking forward to seeing. I've seen every Star Trek movie in the theater (good and bad), and some reviews I've read say this rivals..dare I say it.. Wrath of Khan.
Otherwise, I really don't know what's coming out this summer. My anticipation for The Dark Knight last year raises the bar for my anticipation of movies, because that one was released so late, and what I like in my movies.
Guess i need to see what's coming out..:) April 19 This Is Kinda Sorta Of A Love SongThis Is Kinda Sorta Of A Love Song
Where do we go?
Brown-eyed girl
If it makes you happy
It can't be that bad
You can't start a fire
Without a spark
One part love
One part fire
One part lady
One part child
It's hysterical
Hysteria
When you coming home
I don't know when
We're going to have a good time then
All the promises we make
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you
Bathing in the Purple Rain
I only want to see you
In the Purple Rain
If the the sun refuse to shine
There would be only you and me
Seeking words of wisdom
Let it be
So let let her
Get under your skin
And you will begin to make it better

Na na na na April 16 The Impact Of John MaddenBoy, oh boy. Is this a sad day. But yet, a glorious day.
John Madden, coach, broadcaster, the namesake of a video game franchise, retired from broadcasting.
No announcer in sports had a major impact this side of Howard Cosell on such a national level. Not only that, but when a VIDEO GAME is enshrined into the Football Hall Of Fame, that's an icon beyond no measure.
It saddens me, because I'll miss John's play by play, his analysis. However, it was announced earlier that Chris Collinsworth will step up. At work, my football buddies were wondering, "Who could replace Madden?" Many of us said Bob Costas, but when I read that Chris was going to be the one, I slapped my forehead. I FORGOT him.
That's a very worthy choice. Unless you don't like Chris or his style, he's perfect. He's young enough to be able to announce for decades. Many of the games I've heard him announce each Sunday were the ones I loved watching. Like Madden, he's a student of the game. Except, he was a player, not a coach.
However, prior to each football season, EA Sports released a Madden title for the last twenty years. I can see them handle it in several ways:
1). Have him voice, like he's done.
2). Replace him with Chris. There's precedence. When Pat Summerall retired, and John went to Monday Night Football, Al Michaels was play by play.
3). Have this year's with Chris doing play by play, and John voicing color.
4). Retire the series.
Any of those decisions, or any I haven't thought of, would rock.
To John:
BOOM!
And thank you for the memories.
April 12 Walking The PathFirst off, Happy Easter to you all. Jesus gave his life this day for all of us.
The last month or so was not fun for me for various reasons, most of it work related. The good news is, I became a better person as a result.
In the proccess, I discovered that I sometimes can't handle everything alone. What I mean by that is, I have to step up to the plate, make a judgement call, consult people, and focus on the problem.
I also basically need to just follow one rule. It's a mantra that is from Frank Herbert's Dune:
"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." Over two thousand years ago, the Son of God, Jesus Christ did that for me. He went to a level of sacrificing Himself to ensure that I'm a better man.
When Mel Gibson'sThe Passion of the Christ premiered, I went to see it. Controversy was all over the film due to it's violence, making the Jewish people the ones blamed for his death. There were pastors and rabbis present to answer any questions after viewing the film. Jeff Logan, the theater owner, explained this, and said that not to pass judgement on the film.
I've yet to view my DVD of the film, because it's one of those movies that you simply cannot watch alone. Never in my life have I watched a movie that even though you know the story, the Passion...I cannot imagine what it was llike to be in that square, taking all of that pain.
The other component of all of this is, I may win the girl. I know on a day like this, it's probably not proper to say something like that. but this woman helped me throughout the situation. Havin' Fun and Barbie Gym were written specifically for her. Except, she doesn't know it just yet.
,I used to be very shy when it came to women. I also discovered that when I'm being relied upon, I have to just let the pressure on me wash over.
I was told this by my current boss, and my sister-in-law, who is in a similar position.
I was under pressure because my boss was let go, and I felt I had something to do with it. It wasn't me at fault. I've been given more responsibility, and I've stepped up as a result. Not that I want to. But I have to.
That's what Jesus died for. April 10 Barbie GymBarbie Gym
Barbie needs to work out
So she can impress Ken
So she takes up running
And she runs her way
Time speed laps
Is all she wants
Barbie wants to play basketball
She wants to be point guard
She needs to know her fouls
And the shot clock
Game time running out
Ken needs to work out
So he can impress Barbie
He takes up running
And he runs his way
Time speed laps
Is all he wants
Ken wants to play baseball
He wants to play first base
He needs to know his fouls
Three strikes you're out
And he's given a walk
Barbie wants to play soccer
And she wants to know the score
She kicks the ball
And watches it score
Goal!
Ken wants to play hockey
And he wants to know the score
He hits the puck
And watches it score
Goal!

Havin' FunHavin' Fun
We were walking to a place
Where we had to talk to someone
About an issue we both had
So I could figure out what had to be done
Had to be done
You and me walking that way
Having some fun
Having some fun
You and me walking that way
Was so much fun
After we got done with what we had to do
We ran into something that amused you
You found it really cute
That you thought was funny
So Funny
You and me walking that way
Was so much fun
So much fun
You and me talking that way
Having some fun
Having fun
When you started rambling
On something so crazy
When you explained it to me
We both started laughing
You and me having some fun
Having some fun
Having some fun
You and me walking that way
Having some fun
You and me talking that way
You and me having some fun
Making me laugh
Making you laugh

That I need help with something.

To help the ones who you work with
When you look into her eyes
She sets you free
Even if she doesn't know it
You hope you're the key
